Superconductor–quantum dot hybrid coolers

We propose a refrigeration scheme in mesoscopic superconductor-quantum dot hybrid device. The setup can significantly cool down normal metal coupled to the device by applying bias voltage across system. demonstrate that cooling power be as large 0.05$\Delta_0^2/h$ where $\Delta_0$ is absolute value of superconducting order parameter. In contrast previous proposals, our operates without any magnetic elements such ferromagnetic reservoirs or Zeeman splittings. works over broad parameter range and optimized tuning system parameters level position voltage. Our theory self-consistently determines temperature drop reservoir nonlinear transport regime including electron-electron interactions at mean field level. Finally, we evaluate performance find efficiencies half Carnot bound for realistic values coupling strength.
